The design concept of the Söhne & Partner architecture bureau, known on the Vienna club scene thanks to the Albertina Passage, for example, is manneristic and opulent – and, in the middle of it all, is the massive, round bar, made of fine marble (Golden Viper) and weighing one tonne.

A nightclub always represents its own little world. The ambiance, design and sound create an individual atmosphereand attract a particular scene. The guests of the Club Sechser must therefore travel from another galaxy becausethe nocturnal world has not yet seen anything like this.

The premises of the former nightclub, Palais Palffy, have been reinterpreted and transformed into the supernatural on the two underground floors. A dream of a room, with a historical context and a mannerist design. A combination of keeping up with the pulse of time and nevertheless surprising in every detail.

The challenge faced by the architecture bureau was, above all, to give the typical cellar vaults a new character. They achieved this impressively with a dynamic, wave-shaped ceiling construction that transforms the space into an unusual, crazy and surreal world – you can almost imagine that the ceiling is alive. You immediately forget that you are underground and feel like you have been transported to another dimension.

Through the ceiling, the unpredictable manifests itself, and this underlines the complexity of the whole spatial experience. The curved forms emphasise the “heterotopia of space“ to deliberately evoke confusion, disorientation and constant interaction. A decadent, opulent world of its own is created in Club Sechser using colours, patterns, forms and reflections, which cannot clearly be assigned. It emerges from the interplay between form, function and materiality.

And the latter is chosen especially. For the purpose of this “sixth universe“, this design incorporated high-quality materials such as marble and precious fabrics and wallpapers from the House of Hackney in London.

„Stein ist ein unglaublicher Schatz. Ein Schatz, der durch Hitze, Druck und unvorstellbar viel Zeit entstanden ist. Mit Stein zu arbeiten bedeutet deshalb auch für mich, sich mit der Erdgeschichte auseinanderzusetzen, es bedeutet, mit dem absoluten Urmaterial zu gestalten.“

Luxurious textiles meet the elegant Golden Viper marble - an interplay that transforms the room into an opulent oasis.
The curved bar made of Golden Viper marble, crowned by the wave-shaped ceiling, forms the centerpiece of this surreal club world.
