All the edges are slightly bevelled, the blunt angles give the kitchen a special charm.

In this private house, the large windows invite the surrounding nature into the living space. The interior architecture from M&G sets a clear counterpoint to this alpine terrain. While the basic structure is characterised by a sober wooden building, the interior is distinguished by an exquisite mix of materials, through which an exciting dialogue between the materials manifests itself.

A curated composition of wood, tile, metal and stone gives each room a very special atmosphere. The centre of the everyday activity for the family with three children is the open-plan kitchen/living room. Not only does this offer views outside across the patio and gardens, in winter you can watch the flames of the fire flickering in the fireplace, and a cosy mood spreads throughout the room.

The carpentry work was carried out in M&G’s in-house joinery. The design had one goal, to find an extraordinary shape that is timeless and classic. The choice of colour and materials underlines this concept. The kitchen is installed in front of a back wall of black patinated stainless steel and effectively presents its centrepiece: A slab of stone interspersed with golden veins from Breitwieser.

The stone, named Golden Viper, gets its very special quality through its finishing: Brushed and leathered, the result is an extremely tactile surface that gives it a natural shine. The processing of the stone was designed with mitre joints and implemented so perfectly by means of 3D photo planning, that its pattern continues over the edges.

Golden Viper is the ideal choice for this room, not only because of its dark, black appearance. Thanks to its durability, the deep stone is also ideal for use in the kitchen; it is hard-wearing and acid-resistant. So it couldn’t be better, since the whole life of the family of five takes place around it – and the high table connected to the stone slab also provides enough space for visitors, who are welcome here at any time.
