Boldin is the maiden name of Martin Mostböck's mother. Her grandfather was a stonemason in Rijeka, which makes the circle close to his own roots for the Viennese designer. The lamp of the same name has a solid marble base, whose proportions correspond exactly to the golden section. A circular recess is placed in such a way that it appears at the front of the base as a narrow, upright slot. A round light source is placed inside the cavity, the cable of which leads out of the base at the front. The verticality of the opening allows a stable air supply to cool the light source. An optical lens bundles the light in the centre of a glass tube. Resistant industrial glass from the company Schott is used, which has a grooved surface structure. “There is something mysterious about the lamp, because the light source disappears in the stone. The light shines through the stone. I think it's nice that the marble has a translucence the thinner it becomes," explains Martin Mostböck's design.
